I made this handfasting cord to accompany the handfasting robe in this gallery. It is comprised of ten separate satin cords, which measured eighteen feet each before I braided them. I chose the colors to represent the couple's deities- red tones for Quayin; and green, purple and black for Hekate. I also included silver and gold cords to represent purity and prosperity. I first rope-braided the cords into five double-stands, and then five-strand braided them together. I finished the ends with flattened bead cones, which I decorated with Swarovski rhinestones and silver tassels. The finished cord measures nine feet in length.
