I created this dress for a traditional Armenian wedding. The bride wore a white dress to her ceremony, and this dress to her wedding reception. The bride and her family discussed the elements that they desired with me, and I followed their instructions to create the finished ensemble. It consists of a peasant blouse, a tiered skirt, a braided waist sash, and a head scarf. All of the elements are made of silk chiffon, with Swarovski rhinestone embellishments. The skirt layers are gathered at the waist for fullness, and sewn over a full-circle skirt liner, so that the entire dress flares dramatically while dancing. There are 1440 tiffany-set rhinestones on the combined pieces, and the flowing design of the dress required about 25 yards of chiffon. |
